Local-business AI automations you can build and sell
Hey, it's Cindy ๐ฑ This is the exact list of automations you can build for local businesses, the tools to build them with, and how to actually get paid.
btw the waitlist for AI System Club is now open! If you're keen on using AI to automate your content, video editing, job search, business or build AI agents, feel free to sign up (only if you want to hehe). Ps. the waitlist gets first dibs:)
๐ก The whole idea. Pick one industry you already understand, find the one job nobody there wants to do, and build it for one local business this month. One working automation you can point to beats any pitch.

8 automations local businesses will pay for
๐ Missed-call text-back When a call is missed, an automation instantly texts the caller back to book them. Huge for trades, salons, clinics. Build with Twilio + Make.com.
๐ฅ Inbox + lead triage Claude reads every inbound email, tags it (new lead, supplier, spam), drafts a reply, and books qualified leads into the calendar. Claude + Gmail + Calendar connectors.
โญ Review engine After a job or visit, auto-request a Google review, and draft on-brand replies to every review that comes in. Make.com + Google Business Profile.
๐๏ธ Booking + reminders A booking flow that confirms, sends reminders, and fills cancellations from a waitlist. Cuts no-shows for clinics, gyms, studios. Cal.com or a no-code builder.
๐งพ Quote + invoice drafts Turn a short job description into a formatted quote and, once approved, an invoice. Perfect for trades and agencies. Claude + a doc template.
๐ฑ Content on autopilot One monthly batch of on-brand posts and captions from their offers and photos, scheduled out. Claude for the copy, a scheduler for posting.
โ Website + DM answerer A trained assistant that answers the same 20 questions customers always ask (hours, pricing, availability) on the site and in DMs. Claude + their FAQ.
๐ The Monday brief A weekly digest that pulls their bookings, revenue, reviews and ad spend into one plain-English summary in their inbox. Claude + their tools via connectors.
๐ฏ Don't sell all eight. Sell the ONE that fixes their most painful, most repetitive job. Ask a business owner "what's the task you dread every week?" and build that.
how to build it
The build stack (cheap, no big team)
๐ง Claude as the brain. It plans the automation, writes the logic and the copy, and drafts the client-facing messages. It's where the taste and reasoning live.
๐ Connectors + MCP for the hands. Connect the real apps the business uses (Gmail, Calendar, their CRM) so the automation can actually read and act, not just talk.
โ๏ธ Make.com (or n8n) to wire it together. The glue that runs the steps on a schedule or a trigger. Free tiers cover a first client easily.
๐ A channel tool where needed. Twilio for texts, a booking tool for calendars. Only add what the specific automation needs.
get paid
How to actually land the client
1. Build one on spec Pick a local business you like with an obvious gap, build a small working demo of ONE automation, and show them the live thing. A demo beats a pitch every time.
2. Price the outcome Setup fee of a few hundred to a couple of thousand depending on complexity, plus a small monthly retainer to run and maintain it. Quote the result (hours saved, no-shows cut), not your time.
3. Start in one industry Get one clinic, one salon, or one trade business working, then sell the same build to the next one. Same automation, new logo.
4. Keep the recurring part The monthly retainer for running, tweaking and reporting is the real business. Setup fees are one-off, retainers compound.
the honest bit
Keep it real
๐ซ Only build what you can genuinely run. Deliver a working, reliable automation you'd be happy to put your name on, and be honest about what it does and doesn't do. Reliability is the whole reputation.
๐ก You are the bottleneck, in a good way. The tools are cheap and getting cheaper. The scarce thing is the person who understands one business and can wire AI into it. That person can be you.
