the tool
What Claude in Chrome actually is
Claude in Chrome is a browser extension with a side panel that can read, click, and navigate the pages you already have open. It works in YOUR real browser with YOUR logged-in sessions, so it sees your actual LinkedIn feed, not a separate cloud copy.
๐ What it is: a side-panel assistant that acts alongside you inside Chrome. It is available on all paid Claude plans (Pro, Max, Team, Enterprise) and is still in beta in the browser as of 2026. Get started guide
๐ก๏ธ How permission works: the default mode is Ask Before Acting, so Claude proposes a plan and pauses for your approval before each step. You can switch to Act Without Asking for longer tasks, and some sites always require per-action approval. Permissions guide
โ ๏ธ The honest limit: Claude will not input sensitive data, will not bypass CAPTCHAs, and asks before high-risk actions like downloads. Anthropic tells you to avoid it on financial accounts entirely. That is a feature, not a bug, it keeps your search safe. Use Claude in Chrome safely
the shortlist
Step 1: filter real roles, skip the 40 tabs
Open LinkedIn Jobs, open the Claude side panel, and let it read the descriptions so you get a matched shortlist instead of guessing from titles. Swap in your own role, location, and experience level.
๐ build my shortlist
I'm on LinkedIn Jobs right now. Read the roles on this page and build me a shortlist of remote US product manager jobs at software companies that ask for under 5 years of experience. For each one, open the description, then tell me: the title, the company, the seniority, the 3 hardest requirements, and one reason it does or does not fit someone with my background. Skip anything that is clearly senior or needs a security clearance. Give it to me as a clean table.
๐ก Why this beats scrolling: Claude reads the actual posting text, not just the headline, so a mislabeled "associate" role that really wants 8 years gets filtered out before you waste an application.
reach a human
Step 2: find the real hiring manager
Most applicants only drop a resume. The move that gets replies is a short, specific message to a human. Ask Claude to surface likely contacts from public LinkedIn info so you can reach out on purpose.
๐ฏ find the right person
I want to reach out to a real person at [company] about their [role] opening, not just apply. Using the public LinkedIn pages, help me identify the likely hiring manager or team lead for this role, plus one or two people already on that team. For each, give me their title and why they are relevant. Then rank who I should message first based on how close they sit to this role.
โ๏ธ the connection note
Write me a 4-sentence LinkedIn connection note to [name], the [title] at [company]. Reference their [role] opening, name one specific reason I am a strong fit (I have [your proof point]), and end with a soft ask to connect. Keep it warm and human, no buzzwords, under 300 characters.
๐ Keep it clean: this is about spotting public contacts and writing a genuine note, not scraping private data or mass-spamming. One thoughtful message beats fifty copy-paste ones.
worth the money
Step 3: pick the certification that actually matters
When you are staring at a company's careers page unsure which cert is worth your money, point Claude at the site, have it match the cert to the role, then let it navigate you to the sign-up page.
๐ compare the certs
I want a [target role, e.g. Salesforce administrator] job. Go to the Salesforce Trailhead credentials pages, compare the Platform Administrator and Platform Developer I certifications, and tell me which one fits my target role, the rough cost, the experience it assumes, and what the exam covers. Then take me to the sign-up page for the one you recommend.
๐ Real reference: the Salesforce Platform Administrator exam is around $200 USD and assumes about 6 months of admin experience, while Platform Developer I is the coding path (Apex, LWC). Trailhead is the free official study platform. Administrator credential ยท Certification overview

3 bonus prompts to run next
1 ยท mirror the posting
Open this specific job description in my tab and rewrite my resume summary and top 5 bullet points to mirror the exact language and priorities in this posting. Show me a before and after so I can see what changed and why.
2 ยท the skill overlap
Based on the 5 roles in my shortlist, find the 8 skills that show up most often across all of them. Rank them by how frequently they appear, and tell me which 2 I should learn first to unlock the most roles.
3 ยท interview prep
Pull the company's about page and recent news, then give me 6 interview questions they are likely to ask for this role, plus a strong 30-second answer framework for each based on my background.

How to get the most out of it
๐ฑ If you are new to this keep the extension in the default Ask Before Acting mode so you watch and approve every step. It is the safest way to learn what Claude is doing, and you will pick up the rhythm fast.
โก If you want speed once you trust a workflow, switch to Act Without Asking for a batch task (like reading 10 job descriptions at once), then review the shortlist at the end. Save your best prompts in a note so each new search is a paste, not a rewrite.
the honest bit
When not to lean on it
Do not use Claude in Chrome to submit applications with your bank details, autofill anything payment-related, or handle sensitive personal data, it is built to refuse that. Treat it as your research and outreach copilot, and keep the final "submit" click yours.
