SEO now has two jobs 🔍

📈 Classic search (SEO) Ranking in Google's normal blue links. Still driven by crawlability, site health, schema, page speed and content quality. This is the part most tools already cover.

🤖 AI answers (AEO / GEO) Whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google's AI Overviews cite you as the answer. Newer, largely unmeasured, and where most sites are completely invisible right now.

🎯 Audit both, or you're half blind. A site can rank fine on Google and still be absent from every AI answer. This stack checks both, so you find out which one is actually your problem before you spend a single hour fixing things.

Install the free Claude skill 🧠

claude-seo is an open-source (MIT licensed) SEO skill for Claude Code. It is genuinely free: no per-domain pricing, no telemetry, no quotas added by the plugin. It runs a whole suite of specialist sub-skills and agents across technical SEO, schema, content quality (E-E-A-T), AI-search readiness (GEO / AEO), local SEO and international SEO, then writes real report files you can act on.

Connect Google Search Console 🔗

The audit gets far sharper once Claude can see your real numbers: which queries you already rank for, your impressions and clicks, and which pages Google is (or is not) indexing. That turns generic advice into fixes for your actual pages.

🔑 Use the skill's built-in Google wizard. claude-seo ships a credential setup for Google's APIs. Run it and choose the OAuth tier to unlock Search Console, URL Inspection and the Indexing API. Your credentials stay on your own machine, nothing is sent anywhere by default.

💬 Prefer to just chat with Search Console? mcp-gsc is a free, open-source MCP server that plugs GSC straight into Claude, so you can ask things like "which pages lost clicks this month" in plain English. There is also a paid hosted, one-click version (from about $12/mo) if you would rather not touch a terminal. Link in the list at the bottom.
📊 Pull the data you'll feed back in. Ask for your top queries and top pages by clicks and impressions for the last 3 months, plus any pages flagged as not indexed. Keep that output handy, it goes into Claude in step four.

💡 OAuth sounds scarier than it is. It is the same "sign in with Google" flow you already use everywhere. You are granting read access to your own Search Console, and you can revoke it anytime in your Google account.

Score your AI visibility with Rankscale ⭐
