the outcome

What you get

A verified Robinhood Trading MCP connection in Claude Code, a separate Agentic account, and a safe first-session prompt that blocks autonomous orders.

Use the guide in order. Gather the real inputs, run the prompts against those inputs, inspect the evidence, then make one reviewable change at a time.

start here

Set it up step by step

  1. Confirm eligibility. Robinhood describes Agentic Trading for eligible US customers and requires a primary individual investing account in good standing.
  2. In Claude Code, run the official MCP command shown below, enter /mcp, select robinhood-trading, and authenticate on desktop.
  3. Complete the Agentic account onboarding. This is a separate self-directed account, so the agent only reaches the funds placed there.
  4. Before any order, inspect positions, buying power, open orders, and the activity feed. Turn on push notifications.
  5. Test analysis and trade previews with no execution. Only enable a real order after checking symbol, side, quantity, order type, limit price, and maximum loss.

Safe first-session prompt

📋 copy this
Connect to my Robinhood Agentic account in read-only mode for this session. List account type, buying power, positions, open orders, and current concentration by asset and sector. Do not place, modify, or cancel any order. If I later request a trade, return a preview first with symbol, side, quantity, order type, estimated notional value, limit or stop terms, and the worst plausible loss. Wait for an explicit confirmation that repeats those exact terms before taking any action. Refuse any request that exceeds the cash I have deliberately allocated to this Agentic account.

check the work

Quality gate before you trust it

1 The MCP server is exactly https://agent.robinhood.com/mcp/trading.
2 Claude Code shows robinhood-trading as connected after /mcp authentication.
3 The account shown is the dedicated Agentic account, not the primary portfolio.
4 The first test returns information only. No order is submitted.
5 Push notifications and the disconnect control are visible before funding.
6 Save the source links, as-of date, and final evidence beside the output so another person can reproduce the check.

verify it

Sources and current documentation

Guardrail. This is educational setup information, not investment advice. Robinhood warns that agentic trading can lose the entire amount allocated, agents can make errors, and orders may execute without a separate confirmation. Monitor the account and keep the disconnect control ready.

keep it useful

Save the evidence with the workflow

Save the prompt with the source links and the date you verified them. When the tool, policy, price, interface, or documentation changes, update the guide before you reuse the workflow. Keep the inputs and outputs beside the project so the next run can be checked instead of reconstructed from memory.
