5 ChatGPT prompts I use almost every single day to get way better answers out of it. Most people type a question and copy the first thing ChatGPT spits back. These 5 prompts unlock the other 90% (the part where it actually gets useful).
Each one is a copy-paste prompt. Use them solo, or stack them together for compounding results.
(A "prompt" is just the message you type into ChatGPT. Think of it as a recipe: the better the recipe, the better the dish.)
What it does: Turns ChatGPT into a personal forecaster. It uses everything it already knows about you (from past chats and saved memory) to predict the most likely outcome of a decision you're about to make.
Best for: Career moves, business decisions, "should I do X or Y," money calls. Works way better after you've talked to ChatGPT about your life and goals for a while.
The prompt:
Predict mode: Based on everything you know about me from our chat history and saved memory, predict the most likely outcome if I [insert your decision or situation here]. Use my actual patterns, my stated goals, and my known blind spots. Tell me:
1. What I'm most likely to do
2. What's most likely to happen as a result
3. The one thing I'd probably miss
4. The one change I should make before I commit
Don't soften it. I want the prediction, not the pep talk.
Example:
Predict mode: Based on everything you know about me from our chat history and saved memory, predict the most likely outcome if I leave my marketing job in 3 months to go full-time on my AI side project...
What it does: Stops ChatGPT from nodding along to everything you say. Forces it to push back, point out flaws, and tell you the truth instead of validating you into a bad decision.
Best for: Pressure-testing ideas, business plans, copy you've written, decisions you're emotionally attached to.
The prompt:
Kill critic mode: Drop the sycophancy for the rest of this conversation. Treat me like a smart peer who needs honest feedback, not a fragile customer who needs validation. If my idea is weak, say so and tell me why. If I'm wrong, correct me. No "great question," no "you're so right," no hedging. Push back when you'd normally just agree. Tell me the truth.
Example:
Kill critic mode: Here's my Instagram bio and pinned reel idea. Rip them apart. [paste]
What it does: Forces ChatGPT to strip out jargon, buzzwords, and corporate speak. Breaks down any topic so a 10-year-old could understand it.
Best for: Learning anything new (AI, finance, tech, marketing, legal stuff). Especially when you've Googled a term and the explanation just has more confusing terms inside it.
The prompt:
Explain like I'm 10: Break down [insert topic] like I'm 10 years old. No jargon. No buzzwords. If you have to use a technical word, define it first using something a kid would understand. Use simple analogies from everyday life (school, food, sports, games). Short sentences. Make me actually understand it, not just nod along.
Example:
Explain like I'm 10: What's an LLM and how does ChatGPT actually work under the hood?
What it does: Forces ChatGPT to slow down and reason properly before answering. Most prompts get a fast surface-level answer. This makes it think the way Claude does in extended-thinking mode (deeper, more angles, less reactive).
Best for: Strategy questions, complex problems, anything where the first answer would be too obvious or too generic.
The prompt:
10x think mode: Before you answer, think 10x harder than you normally would. Slow down. Break the problem into smaller parts. Consider what's NOT obvious. Question your first instinct. Look at it from at least 3 angles. Then give me your final answer + a short note on what you almost got wrong on the first pass.
Example:
10x think mode: I run an AI marketing agency capped at 5 clients. What's the single highest-leverage offer I can build inside that cap, and why?
What it does: Strips the "AI tells" out of the output. No em dashes, no "delve," no "robust," no three-part lists when two work. Makes the writing sound like a real person.
Best for: Captions, emails, sales copy, anything that's going to be read by humans (so, basically everything).
The prompt:
Human mode: Rewrite the output so it sounds like a real person wrote it. Specifically:
- No em dashes. Use commas, periods, or parentheses instead
- No "delve," "leverage," "robust," "in conclusion," "moreover," "elevate," "navigate the landscape"
- No three-part lists when two work
- Use contractions (I'm, you're, don't)
- Vary sentence length. Some short. Some longer with rhythm
- Cut filler intros like "Certainly!" or "Great question!"
- If a sentence sounds like AI wrote it, fix it
Now rewrite [paste your text here].
Example:
Human mode: Rewrite this Instagram caption so it sounds like @cindiezhu, casual + lowercase + 2 emojis max. [paste draft]
The real unlock is combining these.
